Quinoa Kichidi

Quinoa Kichidi is one of my creative dishes, and I am glad about the results. It is a win-win dish as it is very very healthy and at the same time very delicious and easy to make

To serve 4



  1. Boiled Quinoa
  2. Onion: 2
  3. Carrots diced – 2
  4. Peas (2 cups)
  5. Green Chillies (1 -3 according to tolerance)
  6. Curry Leaves: Few (can omit in unavailable)
  7. Turmeric – 1 tsp
  8. A handful of chopped Coriander
  9. Cashew Nuts
  10.  Mustard Seeds for tempering
  11.  Chana dal for tempering if available
  12. Coconut Oil
  13. Lime juice (1/2 lime)


  1. Cook 250 gms of Quinoa separately. (1 cup water to 1 cup Quinoa)
  2.  Heat two tablespoons of coconut oil in a frying pan.
  3. Temper with mustard seed and channa dal, once the mustard seeds splutter, add the chopped onions and green chillies and curry leaves.
  4. Fry the onions until translucent. Add the chopped carrots and peas, sprinkle some water and cook it for about  10 minutes.
  5.  Add the boiled Quiona, 1 tsp turmeric and salt and cook/fry for further 7-10 minutes.
  6. Add salt to taste.
  7. After switching off the pan, squeeze half a lime and chopped coriander.
Serve it with coconut chutney!!
